Enid in the Crossword
Be on the lookout for a new ENID clue: ENID may be clued as "Horticultural philanthropist Haupt." Fueled by a passion for gardening and restoration, Edith Haupt donated generously to save this conservatory (above) from a swamp. Her philanthropy extended to the Smithsonian Gardens, The Cloisters in Upper Manhattan and Monet's Studio in Giverny, France.
Having spent some time at the Conservatory recently, I'm extra-appreciative of Enid's philanthropy. Her gifts preserve the beauty of the natural world.
